We are currently pursuing certification under the new Socially and Environmentally Responsible Farm Program sponsored by the Oregon and Washington Departments of Agriculture. As an ongoing practice, we care for the environment by:
- Planting a tree for each tree cut.
- Protecting the soil from erosion by using buffer strips and cover crops.
- Providing habitat for wildlife.
- Producing quality trees with a minimal use of chemicals.
- Protecting green spaces by nurturing our natural resources.
- Promoting healthy soil with amendments, cover crops and allowing the soil to rest between tree rotations.
- Providing clean air. Each acre of Christmas trees provides the daily oxygen requirements of 18 people.
- Participating in the Conservation Stewardship Program adminstered by the USDA Natural Conservation Service.
- Recycling of all farm lubricants.
Real trees are biodegradable & do not clutter our landfills with plastic. Purchasing a real tree is the envrionmentally responsible decision.
